February 2025 Nashama Equine & Wellness Farm Shop Newsletter
Welcome to February 2025!
As February draws to a close, I am still kicking back a bit and learning new stuff and making stuff for my family.
I did judge the local Ag Show, which, sadly, only had a small number of entries in the Pavillion. Perhaps it is a sign of the times, perhaps it is small town politics, either way it is sad for the small local shows to have so few entries.
New Products
1. Perfume Roller Balls
Well, I had a play. I had a play some more. And I have decided that roller balls are best for us. First cab off the rank are a few bottles of a dupe of Tom Ford’s “F’ing Fabulous” in a fractionated coconut oil base, both the perfume dupe and the perfume made by Australia’s Scent Method. As a couple have gone out to our Testers, we have 7 left to put in the shop. Most are about 12ml, but the legal volume is 10ml, and they will be around $20-30 each.
I will make some more, but for now a rather lovely take on “ F’ing Fabulous” is available.
Test Bench!
1. 1. Perfume
As above on the roller bottles. I also played with the spray perfume so I will see where I go with that. That was a dupe of Brazilian Bum Bum, which I did love, I just found the roller ball perfume to be a bit easier on the breathing.
2. Adventures in the All-Aussie Eco-Friendly Casting Compound
I have not had a lot of time for the Ecrylimer adventure, because I have lined up another adventure and I am hoping to mesh the 2 together. Read on!
3. 2. I bought a Cricut.
Yes, I bought a Cricut. Pronounced “ Crick-ut”. Like the insect.
What is a Cricut, you ask? It’s a machine that cuts stuff.
I bought the Cricut to do my product labels, and it got their first run on the perfume bottles. I should have bought one years ago for labels.
Keeping things as environmentally friendly as possibly, I use a matte vinyl, print on my Eco printer, and cut on the Cricut.
As we are not making a lot of soap lately, I may even make my own boxes, but that is a project in the wings. It would be nice to have a logo cut out as my viewing window.
I have no idea how to use it so a pause on other things while I watch YouTubes is what I am currently doing.
Nashama Equine & Canine
Glen is busy with his regular equine customers and his job. He is back in the Ford after a kangaroo wrote his Isuzu off, much to the disgust of the dogs as they no longer ride on the back seat in air conditioned comfort.
We have quite a few recipes to bring into production in the winter, it is just a matter of waiting for Julia’s day job to slow down.
We have good stocks of our equine and Canine products, including out unique Abscess and Thrush Formulation, which remains one of the most cost effective and the only organic preparation on the market, and dog shampoo in the farm shop.
Farm Life
Summer on the farm continues, it is another warm day, the horses are hanging under the oak trees looking for a handout, the kangaroos are huge.
I can’t say Jake and George, the new rescue, are at more than an armed truce most of the time.
I can say George has improved his behaviour greatly as he has settled. He is starting to believe we want to be his pack and, here, he is safe.
Sadly, we have locked down the roof of the bore header tank, which is a crucial time delay for the RFS.
Always remember in a rural area there are a few rules that make you be a welcome weekend or visiting citizen:-
· Leave a gate as you found it.
· If it is not yours, do not touch it.
· The bull/stallion/ram is not a quiet placid bull/stallion/ram like in the films. Stay out of his paddock unless you ask the farmer first.
· The pretty crop not is not yours to trample for an Instagram opportunity. It is the farmer’s livelihood.
· Water is precious. Do not waste it, do not steal it, do not contaminate it.
· Your rubbish kills baby animals – ours, the neighbours, the wildlife. Take it with you, do not dump it beside the road for animals to choke on or be trapped in.
· Our farm is not yours to ride a dirt bike or 4WD on. Your noisy machines are not fun for those of us who live here. Keep your fun on YOUR property, not ours or the public road.
· Our farm is not yours to shoot on. If you want to shoot, even though you cannot hit the side of a barn, find a shooting range.
· Our farm is not your kids’ or dog’s fun park. Like your kids and your bikes, keep them on your own place so they do not end up dropped off at the Police Station (kids), at the pound (straying dogs) or shot (attacking dogs).
The farm rules are not that hard. Mostly they are about being responsible and considerate. If we all do that then everyone has a good long weekend.
Looking forward to Easter.
Always remember, a gift of a good soapnstead of calorie laden chocolate is a gift of love!
